The reality of a World War seemed to inspire people to want to watch something quaint and wholesome. This fast-paced but slightly offbeat 1945 movie combines elements of screwball comedy, wartime romance and Christmas cheer.

Barbara Stanwyck plays a Manhattan-bound columnist (to use a modern term, a" domestic diva" ) who rhapsodizes about life on a Connecticut farm she does not, in fact, own. Anyway, when Christmas in Connecticut did hit theaters, reviews and box office were good.
